bike on transibérian ??
 

did anybody bring his bike from moscou to iekaterinbourg, omsk or novossibirsk ?
could you give contact, and if you remember the price ?
i have 5 veeks free in august, would go to moscou then train, then stans and back by the roads

Usually you can just drive to a train station and load your bike into the post waggon of the transsib. but it depends on where you are, for example when i was in a little shithole in the russian far east, they didn't let me put my bike into the post waggon. i had to rent a container. But usually quite cheap.

I don't know how it is in moscow, but I guess there are agencies that will help you. Hope there's somebody else in that forum who knows about, but otherwise i'd just go there and ask...

I put my bike in the baggage compartment of a trans Siberian train (well in the doorway, wedged tight with postal bags) and travelled from Neryungri (Russian Far East, near Tynda) and went to Novosibirsk. 3 and a half days and they charged me about 70 US dollars. There was no crate required just plenty of negotiation and a hands on approach to loading it. Persistence, patience and stay cool is my advice. Good Luck.

We travelled from Irkutsk to Vladiwostock by train. We've send the bike in a post waggon. It was quite cheap. I cant really remember but I guess about 100 EUR. We went directly to the train station. Some Russian friends helped us to organize it. I guess you wont have big problems with it like Marco said.

i ve met people in russia who have done it easily and cheaply : just go at the train station and start the negociation they are official info (price / distance / kgs / storage ...) but then it depends on your approach as usual.
