Continue RTW - Stans to Mongolia
Hello everyone,
After one year and half on the road, I'm back to Montreal and prepare the next leg of my journey Plan to go from Europe to Mongolia and Vladivostok, passing by Pamir Highway. Starting end of May, begin of June. For now I just apply for an LOI for the 6 months Russian visa. I have two citizenships (Canadian and French) but for this I will apply with my French one. Here the route I plan : Turkey Georgia Russia (I apply for a 6 months visa) Kazakhstan (don't need a visa for 10 days) Uzbekistan Tajikistan Kyrgyzstan Kazakhstan Russia Mongolia and Russia again to Vladivostok For now it's difficult to apply for visas because not sure yet for the dates. I would like to know if it's easy (not too difficult) to apply visas on the road, where and if it's not too long to wait for visa (Uzbekistan - Tajikistan - Kyrgyzstan) and if you have any information I'm looking also Caravanistan - The Silk Road Travel Guide Here the plan route http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...1&d=1427815076 Thanks a lot -- Damien - Motard du Monde Motard Du Monde https://www.facebook.com/MotardDuMonde.net |
Hey! The route looks great, cant wait to start a similar route this summer. Unfortunately I cannot give any advice on the actual question, but I saw something mentionable:
I was surprised about your statement regarding the Kazakhstan visa: How I understood it and how I was told, the possibility for visa free entry is only there until July 15th. Afterwards it should go back to "normal" or not? Or are you going before that date for sure? |
Hey Habi
Thanks for your response. For the Kazakhstan, maybe it could be continue after July 15th. If you have any information... |
No, I dont really. I understood that it is only temporarily (until July 15). However, people (I think from Caravanistan) said that it might as well just continue. But at least at the moment I asked no one knew (that was a couple months ago).
So we are planning on just getting a Kazakh visa, to be on the safe side. I havent heard anything new yet about how they are going to handle it. |
No visa needed for Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia for EU passports
Enjoy the trip! |
I know crisidsto only if I want to stay longer than 1 month in Mongolia.
For Kyrgyzstan I know that is for 60 days, but is it possible to have it at the border? Damien |

Hello et Bonjour Jmi.
Yes with a french passport is easier and cheaper. For Uzbek and Tajik, I need a visa before Almaty because I'm coming from west and I plan to go to Almaty after the Pamir Highway. (look the map) So Uzbek in Turkey (just the request and pickup later) and Tajik in Uzbek (Tashken). Où es tu en ce moment? Je reviens en France le 6 Mai... Damien |
Hi. And don't forget to ask for the GBAO permit in Tajikistan. Otherwise you will to be able to do Pamirs.
In case you need something after Pamir, we are in Osh. CHeers. |
Thanks a lot for your advice Muztoo.
I plan to buy it at Tashken or Dushane. And thanks maybe I will stop to visit you Damien |
