I just crossed from Stepantsminda to Russia, it took me 4 hours, got questioned/interviewed. Agents were friendly but was a very long process and it wasn't even crowed.
The roads around Stepanstminda are gorgeous but lot of truck traffic.
Now I'm in Grozny heading tomorrow to Astrakhan.

I recently crossed into Georgia last week using the Posof /vale border. I think the road is the 955 from Turkey .

Grozny was fine. It's totally rebuilt after the war so is a new city.
The road from there to Astrakhan is good and empty. From Astrakhan to Atyrau is very bad.

I'm writing a RR in advrider with some pics and extra info if you want to check it. I'm glad to help with any questions related to my route.
