Kyrgyzstan roads infos late may/early june
Hi,
I'm planning to go back to Kyrgyzstan for a few days at the end of this month until early june. I would like to know if anybody has some fresh infos regarding the following roads (if they are open, landslides, etc. etc.) - road from Talas to lake Besh Tash - Terek pass (from Besh Tash to Toktogul) - road from Torkent to Kyzyl Oi (from what I understand there is at least one pass over 3000 mts: Kyrk Kyz pass) - road to Chong Kemin It's not my first time in Kyrgyzstan, but it's the first time that I'm going this early in the season, and that's why I'm asking. I know that conditions in the mountains can vary a lot even in the summer. Any experience regarding late may? I think that it will be too early for the Kara Buura pass: can anybody confirm this? What about Song Kul? Still too early or the first yurts will be there? Will the southern and eastern roads to/from there passable? Also first time not on a motorcyle: I will be on a 4x4. Thank you very much! |
I don't know man I am looking at the Tyan Shan mountains from kazakh side and they're all covered by snow. It rained today here and in Tashkent so it must have snowed there too.
The road via Tolas and to Bishkek are main roads so they should be operating but I am planning trip to Tash-Rabatt a few weeks later.. just saying. |
Hi friends! Is the border open? Kyrgystan, Tajikistan?
Thank's |
I'm right now in Talas and road is open but it was closed 4 days ago b/c of snow on Sunday. There's another system coming on Friday will see what happens. However locals are saying that even if it snows at high passes it will melt soon, the ground is warm.

Thank's mate! In Greece we hear that the borders between the 2 countries are closed and you can not travel with motorcycle to ak beital pass..
I do not know what to do.... Wish you safe trip!!! |

They try to find a solution between the 2 states, so that the tourists can pass, otherwise you reach the Ak baytal, carakol lake and back.
Return the same road is a long way .. |
I have read that the Pamir is closed due to rumours in this region.
Some clashes with dead people shot by police around Korogh.... |

Not sure what situation with Pamir but if they still issuing access permits (you apply for one with the visa) then it is likely accessible. There are 2 recommend guesthouses in khorug one at the beginning in 2nd row in left just before you see a hotel on right and another in the town for bikers but I don't have WhatsApp numbers for them left gone with the phone. Let me see what I can find through other contacts. |
There waere 4 days of rain and snow in the mountains; the snow line is down to 2700 meters. As result some roads are snowed in I was at Barskoon and Jeti-Oguz it's muddy and wet b/c of snow melt. Will take a few days to get better

I'm just back to Italy.
As cyclopathic said, I found rain in Issyk Kul region, so I decided to move to other regions of the country. Song Kol was open: it was snowing while I passed Kalmak pass on may 30th, but it was sunny the next morning at the lake and I found just rain while going down through Terskey Torpok and Jobulak passes. Only tourist yourts were there: no sheperds yet at the lake. Saw some yurts coming up in trucks. Road from Torkent to Kyzyl Oi: I tried from the Kyzyl Oi side, but after some 15 kms or so a lady told me that the passes were closed. Did not checked myself and backtracked, but the lady looked very sure about the info. Roads from Naryn to Ak-Tal and to Kazarman were open (did the southern one through Baetov and Ak-Moinok pass) New road from Kazarman to Aral was open, but scary: perfect tarmac, but a lot of landslides were clearly visible. I would be scared to ride through that road on a rainy day. Kokomeren/Suusamyr Valley was open and beautiful as usual. I found some snow on the main road through Too ashuu, but it was already melting on june 3rd |

I went on that good graded road from Zhany Talap to Kazarman, and then from Kazerman to Jalal-Abad over another pass.. that still had some snow. Sent from my KYOCERA-E6560 using Tapatalk |
