Need help in Osh please

hi,

a bit of a situation here! my husband s bike gave up. Nothing to repair in Andijan. We are going to try and hire a van to transport his bike to the border, then push it through.

Can someone in Osh tell me if we can then push the bike into town or is it too far?

If too far, we could do with some help hiring a van to take the bike to a workshop, from the border. We also need to find a workshop in Osh.

To make things worse we have no wifi here so only relying on internet cafe a taxi ride away! A truck left us near the airport and we pushed the bike to the 1st hotel we found.

Any wy. any help and contacts in Osh appreciated.
Thanks a lot,

google maps says 5.5Km to centre of town. Lots of buildings on that route. Not sure what they are though?

maria41 31 May 2014 15:59

Thanks, maps dont show here.

There seems to be another border crossing but much further away. Not sure if the nearest to Osh is closed? When I google distance Andijan to Osh it shows a tiny map with a detour, not using the most direct route.

I tried caravanistan but the map there times out all the time so I cannot see. I just got the name.

In any case, even if it 10kms, if we cannot sort out a van we will push the bike into town I guess. Just need to sort out a van from Andijan to the border!

And find workshop in Osh...

Thanks for any contact or advice...

Don't know if these guys might help?

Patrik muztoo.com & here on hubb, they have a workshop. May know mechanic?

Historical Museum Osh Kyrgyzstan
Coordinates: N 40.529433 E 72.793146

Tel. Office: +996 551 006 115

We are in the Historical Museum at the foot of Sulayman-Too, right in the center of Osh. The long, roundly building is located near the Kurmanjan Datka street, behind the two fountains and the big Yurt. In the museum there are two corridors to the left. Our office is at the very end of the second corridor.

Have posted a PM to them to look you up on the hubb if they can help in any way.

Hi Tim thanks.
I got in in touch with Patrick yesterday and he sent me a text.I replied earlier.

He has a truck and when we make it to the border he can come to pick us up.

Patrick if u read this I texted you. Thank you very much! We moved hotel. It says it has wifi, but not working! So still relying on internet cafes. :(

Staff at this hotel are confident that we can get a taxi to get the bike to the border tomorrow. I let you know.

Thanks everybody. Look forward to get to Kyrgyztan!

"we will try to come say hello when we make it to Osh!"

Oh sorry I did not make that clear, I'm still at home in UK ! It is where Patrik's office is in Osh copied from his web site.

Glad you are getting sorted.

Patrik is a mechanic and helps travellers - besides running bike tours on XT600. No doubt he'll help you. I don't think you need much more contacts than him in the area.

Well for Kyrgystan it depends which end of the country you are, i picked my DRZ up in Bishkek from Ali and Sergi today and its ready to go starting first time:thumbup1:

I think for Kyrgystan the main and best contacts are Patrik muztoo.com in the Osh area and Ali and Sergi in Bishkek area:thumbup1:

Sergi in Bishkek http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...429#post468405

What bikes are you riding? Do you have any idea what broke on his bike?
Will be interesting to find out what caused the problem ... and if it could have been prevented.

Seems at nearly any border you could find a truck with space who would carry you where you need to go. Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine. Love to hear details on the bike problem and failure. bier

They arrived today. Patrik picked them up from the border and the bike is at his shop.

Hi guys, thanks for all support.
We got to The border in the end and Patrick came to collect us.
No good news on the bike front though. Just got an email from Patrick, the crankshaft is dead and need new piston.
None of those are available in central asia so we will see tomorrow. :(

g6snl 2 Jun 2014 18:26

Oh dear thats not good. It is an adventure though. :D l guess that's a few less of the posh hotels gone from the budget on the way home.

I am back in the UK for a short visit and then back out to Krygystan around the 25th-27th June if you want me to bring parts out and you can wait until around 27th June.

Another option is buy a cheap 4 stroke moped in Bishkek, Sergei could arrange papers i think as he just made arrangments for 2 USA dudes who brougt cars here getting correct papers in there name

Mark manlys XR125 sh@t it' self in Baku and ended his trip, Ed march runs on about how good his C90 is but he changed engine once and has the cases split more times than i change my socks and on his last trip spent alot of time of trains.

I think you need at least a 250cc as small engines running all day with weight/bags is alot of stress, also water cooled over air cooled
