Shipping A Shock Into the Stans
I'm currently in Tashkent and looking to ship a shock into either Bishkek or Almaty or Astana or Novosibirsk...
I hear its a pain due to customs fees to ship into anywhere in Kazakh... Any recommendations from anybody here? Thanks ahead... |
I had a box of spares shipped into Bishkek in late 2005 and I don't remember having any issues, although it took a while to ship (10 days?) and my shipper was required to fill out some burdensome paperwork in advance. I used FedEx and I picked it up from directly from the FedEx office in Bishkek.

Its not cheap to ship to any of the stans, your best bet is to use fedex or dhl because they will take care of all the paper work and you will not get hassled or extorted by customs. From my experiance, in the long run you will save money and get your parts

If you have not decided yet...
I'll be arriving in Bishkek on Mon night (28/06/2007).
If you still need info I can ask ther what's the score (ie: fedex or other services) if you think it can be of help. I'll be leaving Bishkek on Thurs afternoon. And yes, I have not direct experience but Kazakhstan has a earned bad reputation when it comes to spares or tyres sent there. |
The shock arrived on the doorstep in Sakura's guesthouse in 3 days from the middle of nowhere New Jersey, USA to Bishkek...unbelievable. FedEx.
