Shipping from Almaty to Thailand/Cambodgia

Hi,

Here are the news of THE chinese problem.
In a previous thread i said that it was impossible to cross over China with my motorbike and I had to find out some alternatives to circle this country.

At this time, in view of the fact that there is also some problems to come with a motorbike in Vietnam, the idea is to ship my bike from Almaty to Phnom Penh or to Bangkok. I have already launched several requests for quotation with diffrents options (by air, by rail...). And I am waiting for proposals.

Is there anybody who has an idea about costs and procedures for this kind of shipment. Also what are the points on which I have to be careful with the transportation companies ?

Thanks for your advices
Simon

Almaty is very expensive!

Go to Bishkek or contact Manas airport. The prices there are far cheaper than in kaz and the red tape's fractional.

same position

Simon ...

Sounds like you are in the same position as me & travel partner Bjorn Holland. We were due to have crossed into China yesterday, but Torgorat pass was shut in our faces by the Chink beuracrats. We're currently in Bishkek looking at the very option suggested. Tomorrow's plan is to go to the airport to find out more info'.

The word is that we can get cheap air-freight for our bikes across to India (after which can ship to Bangkok or wherever).

If you want to ava'chat in person, try my UK moby + 44 796 3712496 or maybe try our guest-house (Nomad's home: +996 312 29 99 55). Ask for me or Bjorn ...

Meanwhile if you find out any definite info' your end would appreciate hearing about it ASAP. Mail me direct on lenz.jones@gmail.com
