Tadj temporary import
I will be in Tadjiskstan early next month. I noticed in Siberksy extreme blog when Colebatch got his temporary import at the border they would only give him 5 days.
Does anyone know if this is still the case? If so what do we need to do to extend it in Dushanbe? We will be spending two days in Dusbanbe and don't think 3 days will be sufficient to cover us back to Kyrg. Especially not 2 up. |
We stayed in Tadj for two weeks last year. Normally, you can stay in the country for 15 days with your bike. It can be extended in Dushanbe but I hear it's quite a hassle.
Don't stay in Dushanbe, there's some beautiful roads and scenery there! Take care Wanderer |
do you know if this is the same for vehicles?
interesting blurb here: http://www.traveltajikistan.com/road...nto_tajikistan G |
I would think it's the same for other private vehicles, only the import fee will be a bit higher.

So went across today 15 days. 50TJS or $10 for the tempory import all very easy, Tadjiks were very nice and welcoming. Probably spent a bit longer a the border post and police checkpoint than we needed just chating to the people there.
Good tip if you don't have a Russian Visa in your passport (or have it in a different passport), have a translation of your Name into Cyrillic. Helps things along, it is easy enough do yourself if needed. Wish we would have stayed in UZ longer, just cruising around meeting people from the south. Really nice people, that includes the cops. If you anyone decides to do the border crossing at Tursunzoda make sure to stop in at the markets in Denov (Deanu), it is really an experience. Just ask my wife who was taken around to get some stuff, by a lady wh just wanted to help. |
