Just to say thanks to Dean, and his friend Anton from Novosibirsk.

The tyres were delivered a agreed, and Anton kept my tyres untill we were going back home. Anton also helped us the next day and connected us with a repair shop in Barnaul, as we had some problems with the bike.

Great job and hospitality from those guys.

DEAN Rus 24 Mar 2016 11:27

Season 2016 had started.
2 sets were shopped and already arrived to destination cities.

Yeah, I'll add my thanks too. Back in 2012 Dean sent out a pair of TKC80's to Novosibirsk, and his agent there kindly held on to my old tourances untill I got back from Mongolia.

Great service.

Where you off to mate? I remember talking to you and watching your mud vids before going through Congo in 2010. Did the ride to Magadan last year! :-)

And yes great service from Dean! Got mine shipped to Almaty.

I found plenty of sh*t doing the Old Summer Road! But avoided most of it in Congo by going from Mila Mila to Point Noire and Cabinda :-)

Thanks to dean

Today I went to custombike in Volgograd to get my new tire fixed on the bike.
I couldn´t believe how easy this was. Dean sent it to the custombikeshop and there I got it mounted on my bike. This was the easiest go in 20 tire changes including my jometown in Germany, it went smooth, the quickest ever and the most accurate and prfessional way I ever experienced. The workshop had a telefix adater for BMW and Guzzi wheels, so I even got it balanced, and I think it was never balanced this good.
So thanks to Dean (Denis) and the Custombike Shop in Volgograd, best job ever!!!

Hallo Dean,
i just tried to send you an email, but got an error
I'm looking for some heidenau K60 tires front and rear (90/90-21 and 130/80-17)
I will be in the Russian Altai region at the beginning of July and continue through Kazakhstan to Kirghistan and Tajikistan.
I would prefer to get the tires as late as possible. Do you only deliver to Russia or is Kazakhstan or Kirghistan or Tajikistan also possible?

What are the possible delivery cities and how much are the costs?

Hope to hear from you

Flo

IanC 7 Jun 2016 10:46

Dean got some to Almaty (Agent Orange KTM dealer) for me last year, not sure about the others. I think KAZ is part of a customs union with Russia which makes it easier?

Don't underestimate the size of Russia and therefore the time to ship tyres. He needed three weeks when I looked into getting a set to Yakutsk! Almaty I think was around ten days.

moep 7 Jun 2016 11:31

thanks for the quick reply, almaty sounds great

i tried the email again, this time it worked:thumbup1:

MotoBarnaul 18 Jun 2016 08:07

Hi all travelers! I - Moto traveler. I would be very happy to chat with you if you are going to Altai! Especially because for sure your path will be through the city of Barnaul. I could make the Tire mounting, balancing, editing motorcycle wheels! And make you drink tea or coffee!)

I am at the address: Chelyuskintsev street 1 B (Челюскинцев 1 Б), Barnaul, Altai Krai, Russia (Autocomplex "Барнаульский") I'm waiting for you to visit!

ilpo 21 Jun 2016 03:05

Will be in Barnaul on Thursday to get new tires (hopefully they have arrived, have not got confirmations). Friday is service day for me and then towards Mongolia.

ilpo 23 Jun 2016 18:08

Tires delivered today to my hotel room - so thanks Dean for this :D

Will get those changed tomorrow and also other needed service done at the same place and then continue over to Mongolia.

Hi,

A big thumb up for Denis.

Got a set of tires in Irkutsk beginning of month. The guys were helpful, sent me to the next door workshop and to the tire change place.
The place is on Walter way-points as Irkutsk Motorcycle Shop.

2 weeks later received a second set of tires in Magadan. Again, everything went smooth, no problems.
Thanks Denis.

DEAN Rus 20 May 2017 07:22

Updated for 2017

mjs 7 Aug 2018 09:13

I used Dean for some moto tires in July 2018 shipped to Barnaul. No issues with the tires other than me waiting a bit to long so selection was limited in order to meet my time frame.

If you are collecting the tires in Barnaul I would suggest you collect the tires from Dean's contact there (Andrey) and take them to be mounted on your own. I had asked Andrey to recommend a shop where I could service the bikes. Two pinched tubes (one there, one found shortly thereafter) out of four tires. Of the two tires that were directional, one was mounted backwards. Andrey did the work on the bikes and managed to poor oil down the side of one and under filled both even after I told him exactly how much was required (1/2L low of 2.3L required). All the while I got to listen to him tell me how shitty my bike (650 Rotax) was because he blew one up many years ago (not that I was surprised by this info). On the plus side, he did find me an additional tire at a local shop nearby.

Later in Mongolia we met some German bikes who had a similar experience. Another Italian rider also relayed a story

YMMV.

Hi, I think we met in Ulaiastay :D

Yes, I would also suggest tocollect the tires from Andrej and look out for your own shop to chance them.

in 2015 I got the tires and Andrej did a good job at a tireshop.
( I have the waypoints if you need it )

in 2017 we also ordered tires and we asked for service on an Africa Twin.

It endet up that we had to do everything oureself, the service was not supported ( but we definitely asked for that before )

The tires were chanced, but we had to do everything by ourself ( wich was not we asked for )
My Medium duty tube was damaged by Andrew and I had to pay for a used one, which was the wrong size ( what I found out later ) and I got a flat tire at lake baikal and fugured out about the wrong tube.

All in all it was a bad experiance, everything was ok 2015, but really bad 2017.

So order your tires, collect them and go to another place to get everything sorted......
