Vali's in Mashhad has some contacts at the Turkmen Embassy, he may well have some info regarding availability of visas.

He has a nice little guest house too, not super cheap but good beds and food. Just be careful if he offers you a free tour of the carpet making area, he is pretty good at trying to get you to buy one!

Hi, regarding visa for Kazakh, a list of countries (including France and UK) do not require a visa for stays of under 15 days.

This has been rolled now and valid until 2017. It was discussed recently in the hubb and confirmed few weeks ago.
Check with the Kazak embassy.

See here for Britsih citizens, but it includes about 12 or 15 nationalities.

But unfortunately registration may still be necessary!

In the past I've had a valid Russian visa cancelled when I received a new one, so I suspect its possible, but things are different with different nationalities and different embassies, and the fact that your visa hasn't been used yet could also be a factor.

Thanks a lot Motoreiter for your quick reply.
If I'll be denied in Ankara, I'm going to try to contact Russian Consulate there and explain my problem.... and cross my fingers.
Any other advice about this problem:helpsmilie:

OK, good luck with the consulate. A word of advice: when dealing with Russian bureaucrats, it never pays to get mad or frustrated or upset...just explain the enormous problems you'll face if if you can't change your visa, and very possibly they'll be moved from their inertia or even be willing to break a rule or two. That's one thing I really like about Russians--they are usually willing to help a brother out.

It's sure I'm not going to be upset against them: it's not their fault if I need to chage my dates!

Hi, Bartosz, do you think your nationality makes Russian transit visa more easy?
I already have a Russian visa but in case of refusal for my Turkm. transit visa, I'll try to have a Russian transit visa to go to Kaz+Uzb fro Georgia (then return)

Bartosz 4 Aug 2015 22:29

My nationality don't depend of geting visa. Russian have strict rules and there is no discus.
In my case I got only 1 way in Poland becouse my trip is over 30 days and it is impossible to back from my trip in 30 days. So it is obvious that I have to return to my home and it is only possible to drive by Russia. There is no problem to get the visa but the procedure can be different in Central Asia.
(f.e in Almaty only normal proced for 7 days, in Osz normal 7 days for 50 EUR, faster 4 days 70 EUR). There is also few consulates in Kazakhstan on my way but it is easy to find good place when you do the internet application.
So I think don't worry about your visa. I met Italian and French in consulate in Almaty and they picked visas.

Just a question:

Why did you not get a double entry or multy entry visa?

Would this not be much easier instead of hoping that everything runs well?

I am asking because in Kazachstan and Usbekistan they checked my passport for the visas and they would not let me in if I could not tell them which route I take and I have the Russian ( and in Uzbekhistan the Kazhak ) visa already in my passport.

They also checked if I need to go back from mongolia through Kazhakstan or not, because I just had double entry and then I needed a triple entry.

So I think you can not rely that you can cross into a country when you dont have a visa back.

Or do they have to give you a transit visa without any question?

Hi, I am the one who was with Bartosz. Just collected my Uzbek visa in Bishkek, it took me 15 minutes and 65 USD (with prearranged LOI) . Waiting for the code for Iran and I go for Turkmen visa. Will update accordingly. Anyone in Bishkek fancy a beer?

I asked for my Turkmen transit Visa, around one month ago in Ankara, and picked up in Tehran. No problem at all. You need entering and exiting countries visas when applying.

If you dont get a transit visa, you could get a tourist visa by hiring a trip through an official tour agency. The price will start around 100$ per day.

Applied today in Bishkek. 7 working days leadtime. No way of applying here and collecting somewhere else.

Sorry for delay, but I back this morning from trip. Crossing from Ukraine to my Poland was terrible. All 2 border crossing full of "legal smugglers" and blocked for 24 hours. Third new border crossing took 1 hour.
Back to theme I it is rather difficulty to get russian double transit visa with period longer then 30 days, My all trip was 37 days so that I took only 1 way.
Procedure in Osh very pleasant, 4 days and I got 10 days (maximum). So even it is possible to visit Moscow for 7 days.
