US West Coast to Vladivostok
Can anyone tell me if there is a well established method of getting from west coast US to Russia?
We would like to get to Vladivostok if possible, but we are flexible if there is an easier route. We can leave the US pretty much anywhere from LA to Seattle, or even beyond. We'll be crossing from Liverpool to New York sometime in May 2012. I am open to suggestions. Air, or surface shipping, as we are in the process of planning the route now and need some advice. Thanks |
The most common route seems to be air to Seoul, Korea (Korean Air cargo?) from west coast USA and then ferry to Vlad. There are a few writeups here describing travellers recent experiences about shipping and booking the ferry, etc. so that's a good way to get the latest. Sometimes the searches can be slow, try using google and specify the HU site and you should get a few hits. Happy planning.

We are shipping our UK bikes from Seattle to Vladivostok in a container on 29th May. This method is very expensive but can be made a lot cheaper if you can find others to share the cost of the container.
We have just completed 6500 miles in the USA covering 19 states with only 2 days of riding in rain (Oregon and Washington State of course). Shipping from Seattle goes weekly but you can ship from Everett a few miles further up the coast for much less but the shipping tends to go once a month (mid-month) but that didn't fit in with our visas etc so we have gone the expensive route via Seattle. If you need more info PM me. |
