Uzbekistan - Kazakhstan Border

Hi all,

We have recently crossed the Uzbekistan - Kazakhstan border. Initially we intended to cross the border on the main road between Tashkent and Shymkent. Close to the border we were however stopped and told that this border is only for pedestrians.
If you plan to cross from Uzbekistan into Kazakhstan (or the other way round) use the border at Yallana near Chinoz (about 80 km Southwest of Tashkent). It took about 3 hours to get through.
