Vladivostok to Ulan-Ude....and beyond

Hello HU Community,

I was fortuitous enough to find this community while doing a search for the trans-siberian highway. I must say, there is exponentially more useful information here than all other overland travel websites combined.

Although I am not traveling by bike, I was hoping you might award me "associate" membership as I share with everyone here a passion to travel and explore the world. I also built and raced a trophy truck in the 2005 Baja 1000 if that helps?

I am currently in Vladivostok, awaiting clearance of our Toyota LandCruiser and safari trailer from customs. We've been here since the 2nd and were lucky enough to take part in the May 9th Patriotic War Celebrations. We are itching to get on the road and were wondering what the condition of the road between Khabarovsk and Chita is like these days? I have e-mailed Shustrik as well as posting this.

Thank you in advance for the assistance. We recently spent 3 months touring New Zealand and did a 20,000 km circumnavigation of Australia. I'd be more than happy to provide anyone with tips for those destinations.

Enjoy!

Dan

Hi, the last information was that it's still muddy and at the moment it's raining in Ulaan Baatar and normally the rain comes from the North also from Sibiria.......I remember also one friend last year that he said there are parts between Vladivostok and Ulan Ude with terible 1000 km of gravel.
