Who's planning a UK - Mongolia/Russian/Vllad Asian trip for 2019 ?
I'm just putting the feelers out if anyone else has this on the horizon. I've got an idea to leave the U.K in May 2019 and heading east to Mongolia.. Maybe sell the bike there or keep going. In absolutely no rush whatsoever but obviously wanting to finish before the winter.
It would be nice to share plans, ideas and maybe even the road. |
Hoping to do something big next year Ted, but not decided where yet, looking for inspiration. Biggest trip so far is UK to Thailand via Turkey, Stans & China in 2014. East again is one possibility.

Hi Ted,
Planning to do Stans, Mongol, Bam and ROB in 2019 via Iran, starting from Turkiye. The route roughly will be as : Iran, Turkmen, Uzbek, Tajik, Kyrgz, Kaz, Mon, Rus. After completin BAM and ROB, possible to pass to Sakhalin and Japan or back to Omsk or Ufa by Train and to Turkiye via Georgia or Ukraine, Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria. Want to do this trip with a WR250 R. Hope to complete it in 3 months. If can't catch 2019, in 2020 I hope ... |

If you ask it again next year I'm in. 2020 is the year I've set myself (for various reasons earlier isn't an option), and I'll be doing the Trans Siberian Highway to Ulan-Ude picking up some interesting points on the way. Then Mongolia, UB and thereabouts, back up to Barnaul and down through KZ to ride the Pamir Highway, thence the Silk Road through Uzbekistan, Caspian ferry to Baku and home via Georgia and Turkey. Not planning to munch the mileage, 2-300 kms on riding days and be prepared to stop and smell the flowers in between. Probably leaving around 1 May 20 so the Siberian leg isn't too cold; means the Stans will be hot (but the high roads will be OK) and I get back to Blighty Octoberish.
