Enfield 1979 - A GOOD YEAR?!?
Hey,
I'm planing to buy a Enfield Bullet 350cc, model 1979 in Nepal. Does anybody know if a old bike like this can make all the way from Nepal to Germany in one piece? Help wanted! Cheers, Phil Phil Dera Photography |

In the sense that it was a good year for anthrax poison, military invasions, the unibomber, unpleasant female Tory leaders, oil spillages, airplane crashes, hotel fires, and killer tornados. They all did well for themselves. Meantimes, the Enfield range maintained its standard. Simon |

This is funny. Basically any old Enfield you buy in India is going to need a lot of spare parts, luck, determination and local mechanics to get you home on.
I had never ridden a bike before arriving in India and deciding I was going to go home to the UK on a 1955 Bullet. I was assured the bike I bought was originally a 1955 model made in the UK which was restored before my very eyes over one week to a reasonably high standard in the Karol Bagh district of Delhi. Really does make me laugh looking back on my naivety. That said it gave me a fantastic adventure. I got through four pistons on the way home (yes it really was a single cylinder!) and ultimately the gearbox output shaft led to the demise of the bike in northern France. I would get the bike in Nepal but be aware that you will probably need to get some work done on it before leaving India. Back in 2000 once you crossed the border at Amritsar you had to get all the way to Athens before finding an Enfield dealer! Good luck! Matt |

The autootive association here in chennai, told me that i need to discharge the carnet only after i get the bike here. I canot pay duty in any country and register the bike in that country.
