Husqvarna nuda 900/900r
 

Has anyone considered one of these? Would need a bit of crash protection but the engine would make it worthwhile in my book, although obviously not for heavy duty off-road stuff.

I just hope that you know that the number of produced bikes was very small and that the brand Husqvarna just recently has changed owner. BMW sold it to KTM (or to be exact, to the main shareholder of KTM). He has no plans to continue the brand since its in direct competition with KTM and Husaberg (both his brands). So spare parts will for sure become an issue at some stage.

As Claudio said I think KTM are dispanding all the on road bike range they will sell the Husqvarna off road bikes as thats what KTM know best.

I wouldnt be put off by the lack of spares I belive some of the BMW engine parts can be used on the 900/650 bikes.

Can you get the bike cheap or do you already own it ? (if so then you know your bike and it may still make more sense to sell it and buy something else).

I would think there are much more suitable bikes available, How much power do you need to RTW ?

When you look at the plus the engine and then the minus, the cost of new bike plus conversion plus lack of accesoroies available and then the possibility of spares you would be better off spending your money on something else.

Given that they are only really suited to road travel you could take just about any road bike from a Fireblade to a C90.

I'm not considering leaving the tarmac but would like to do the Trans-Siberian Highway and cross to Sakahlin, the Russain island and, from there, to Hokkaido in Japan and on to the main island Honshu. After going round the whole coast I'll end up in Tokyo for a month to see old friends (I used to live there) and then ship the bike back to Portugal where I live.
Having researched the reliability of these on 900 forums, they seem very reliable. I think I'd trust one more than my Buell Ulysses, which I'd have to sell. The 900 is light enough to pick up if dropped and frugal enough to make a 13.5L tank about doable (range of 150 miles is easily attainable, or more). I want to go on something with a bit of go.
