Royal Enfield Himalayan Engine Strip Down and Rebuild
I recently had a catastrophic engine failure due to an oil jet inside the crankcase working loose.
I took it out of the bike, stripped it down and replaced the entire top end, crankshaft and balancer shaft with the relevant bearings etc. If anyone would like the summary of the process, including any issues that I encountered /solved let me know and I shall update this thread with it and supporting pictures. |
How old and how many miles were on your engine ?
Loose oil jet in the engine. From the factory ? doh |
The bike is a 2018 BS4 model. I bought it in August 2019 at 18 months old with 2,400 miles on the clock.
Since then I have done a further 26,000 miles before it seized at 28.500 miles on the clock.. I have never opened the engine before this so it was either the previous owner or it was never fully tightened when it came out of the factory. I really do not know which. |
My friends 2018 model self destructed at 28,000 miles. Gearbox totally jammed up.

Funny that they both went bang around the same mileage. Maybe just a coincidence but as others get to that sort of mileage we shall se if it is or not.
