tyre choice?
Hi,
I'm thinking ahead to a trip next year that might involve some slighty rougher road surfaces than I'm used to. Most of my touring has been on reasonable quality roads.. maybe some loose surfaces, but nothing major. I'm riding an FJR1300, and was wondering if there was any TrailWing or Distanzia type tyres that would fit the FJR, to provide a bit more grip on more slippery surfaces 120/70 front 180/55 rear tia a |

And more importanty a weight - or Load rating .. most dirt tyres are for small bikes with less weight (and power) (and speed). Should look some thing like 120/70 17 V 67 17 being the diameter 67 being the load rating.. the larger the number the more weight it will carry. The V is the speed rating .. closer to Z = highter speed .. Most people find the more dirt oriented the tyre the shorter the distance it lasts. There is also not much difference in traction between a road tyre and a Tourance for example .. you need to go to a TCK 80 for a lot of difference .. and then you'll have half the life.. |
Pirelli MT60-R Corsa might be a tire for you to look at.

My normal fitment are Avon Azarro: 120/70 ZR 17 58W 180/55 ZR 17 73W On the roads we'll be using, I doubt very much we'll need to worry about a high speed-rating. a |
