MAN instead of man.............????:Dbier

Hi Jervig,
The latest MAN has a very ORMOCAR look about it. Do you have a website of any further details of equipment and systems? What was the reason for selling the old truck and starting again? |
Ormocar?? No way sorry!!
The reason to build a new one now is the last possibility to register Euro 5 without Ad Blue. Otherwise we could wait for 2 or 3 years. Another reason is that it is nice to bring the 1/2 million km experience together in a new vehicle. We started to doubt about selling our current MAN, more and more the idea to ship the new or the current one to another continent is settling. In a few weeks I will complete the story about the construction in Dutch and put it on our website, after that I will translate it and put it here. GRTZ, JP PS nice Leyland/Daf you have. On our last trip to Magadan we met some British with a Leyland/Daf and travelled together 2 or 3 times for a few days. |
It was the cappings, the angled leading edge of the cabin, and apertures that appear to be ready for KCT windows that put me in mind of ORMOCAR. Look forward to seeing more details after the translation.
Thanks for the compliment re our truck. It's very capable but, of course, much less refined than a modern MAN. It will be interesting to read about your take on low sulphur diesel, and engine management reliance upon electronics at some stage. I hope the project goes well in the coming weeks and months: may your niggles be small and easily overcome... |
Hi Jeroen
They all look great, a real credit to you. Can a I ask what the construction is, is it Steel frame / GRP.? I can see a crane arm on the back for the tyres, I was wondering were the strength for the crane base comes from. I have a similar cabin and because I don't have any additional strength in the GRP I have had some crane design issues , but I like yours so would! be interested a her it gets its strength from Looking forward the the web site Neil UK. |
Hi,
All three have a crane, in all cases the design is different, but also in all cases the mounting of the crane is combined with the carrier of the spares. All three have no frame at all in the sandwich construction. No 1 has a INOX carrier outside all over the back of the cel No 2 has a iron carrier mounted on the backside of the chassis No 3 has a iron carrier laminated in the sandwich. Done at the moment of production of the sandwich panels. GRTZ, Jeroen |
Would love to see a detailed thread about your latest build, it looks fantastic!
What are your plans to do with it once completed? |
The first (test) trip (06/2015) will be to the Russian Federation, Karelia, Archangelsk, Oeral. A relatively short trip, between 15 and 20k km. After that i don't know yet, to keep or sell our 2006 10.220 MAN and which one of them to ship to America for two or three years. We plan a trip to Australia and NZ as well but I hate SE Asia so we might ship the other one directly from here overthere. All luxery "problems" we will see what will come out.

Looking very nice indeed, very high quality work.
The belly lockers must have taken a very long time to fabricate - there are some very awkward angles there. Are they formed in aluminium? |
No Alu, Inox (stainless) steel it is.
