LC

Hi Barbara

thats a nicely kitted out LC you have, but imho you are asking 'long dollars' for it - its all now second hand!

Good luck with the sale

Chris, I think it is well worth it. It has done very little work since being prepped and has been exceptionally well maintained.

We have 3 80s here at the moment that have all been prepped and then used on trips and then sold and they all need several thousand pounds worth of work to get them back up to scratch - Barbara's 80 is immaculate and ready to go now!

Barbara,

I'd like to congratulate you on a very calm and measured response to someone sabotaging your sale or atleast damaging the possibilities.

I'm a little surprised at Chris expressing his opinion publically here, especially as a moderator. I must say I found it most annoying when someone posted a similar response to an advert of mine, especially as he was in the business of making money from car sales. Of course, as far as I know that's not the case this time.

Good luck with the sale.

Long range fuel tank?

Hi Barbara

Is your LC80 fitted with an additional fuel tank (that you forgot to list...). Thanks.

Byron

Hi Byron,

no it hasn't got an integral fuel tank, we use the 2x20 litre jerry cans which are locked into the carrier on the roof rack,

hope this is helpful

Barbara

My first response is to say that I am a fully paid up member of the HUBB and have been for quite a few years, and as such I am entitled to my opinion. As is obvious, I am also one of the mods, and I have found that I have tended to refrain from commenting on numerous ocassoions due to this. However, I believe there is nothing wrong with airing my views or opinions as would/does anyone else on here.
This is a forum and as such all threads are open to comment, as long as they are not rude or abusive.

I had no 'intent' to sabotage or damage Barbara's chances of selling here LC, but made my opinion on the price only.
I note Barbara was very polite with her response, then Julian Voelker then replied with his opinion of the truck - I know Julian well and if he says it well worth the money and in excellent condition, then I would not hesitate to take his word for it.

So to Barbara, if any offence was perceived please accept my appologies, as there was no offence intended.

To Julian - for those of you who don't know him, Julian is 'Overland Cruisers' and probably the most technically skilled Land Cruiser mechanic in the UK - thanks for your comment, you have a better mechanical knowledge of the truck than anyone, so informed and to the point.

To Jamie, I don't appreciate the accusation that I sabotaged or damaged Barbara's thread, perhaps in some peoples opinion my comment was unjustified or a little harsh, but it was only intended as a statement of my opinion and if I'm honest, I thought it might stimulate some positive discussion and interest. I do not sell cars or trucks for a business or sideline.

Finally I just want to re-emphasise the fact that this is an open public/members forum, we are all grown up adults, hopefully!
We have our own views and opinions, and should be allowed to air them when we want without accusation or abuse. I hope everyone continues to enjoy the Hubb and its plethora of fascinating information.

Good luck with the sale

Chris

i would be carefull of upsetting more people by commenting that someone has more knowledge of these vehicles than anyone else, afterall do you know everyone and what they do for a living who writes a post on here?

i have a crane if you need to borrow it to get out of the hole you dug yourself!

jamieT 15 Mar 2012 21:21

Just failed in my first post due to stupid phone. The gist was ... I should follow my own advice and confine initial reactions to personal messages or better yet, count to 10. Barbara, apologies for the distraction.

Niva Say Never 15 Mar 2012 21:35

Good luck with the sale Barbara, it's a great looking 80.

j555fjr - What are you hoping to achieve there? No need at all.

I and many others would echo every word Chris said about Julian.

Happy travels all
Sam

j555fjr 15 Mar 2012 22:11

i wasnt trying to achieve anything.

all i was saying was he suggested that he knew the best mechanic for toyotas in the uk, i was pointing out that without knowing everyone elses background its abit unfair.

bit like me saying my other half makes the best tea in the world but without trying yours it would not be right for me to say.

fairness and equality you see.

I haven't dug myself any hole - I stand by what I have said, I believe that Julian is "probably the most technically skilled Land Cruiser mechanic in the UK".
Speak to just about anyone who is knowledgable about the UK Land Cruiser 'world', and I'm fairly certain 'most' would agree with me.

I re-iterate its my opinion and I did state 'most'.

Anyway, lets leave this conversation here or take it somewhere else - maybe the 'lounge', as this is Barbara's thread.

Chris

barbaraH 16 Mar 2012 15:21

Wow,
I didn't expect my post to produce such a reaction, however it's great to know the HUBB is so active.

I wasn't offended by Chris's comments and am pleased that Julian expressed his knowledgable opinion of my Toyota Landcruiser,

thanks to everyone for your contributions,

Barbara

Overland prepped TLC

Gotta say this vehicle represents great value, especially when you look at the quality of the kit added.

Bundubasher 3 Jun 2012 11:51

JT - didn't realise you took offence so easily:

"I must say I found it most annoying when someone posted a similar response to an advert of mine, especially as he was in the business of making money from car sales."

In fact i'm not in the business of making money from car sales - maybe one day - at the moment it hardly keeps the wolf from the door old man, so I'd say it's rather more of a hobby really.

Anyway, sorry if I caused you any sleepless nights and I'll hold my tongue next time.

TTFN!

barbaraH 4 Jun 2012 07:59
