film
I have been riding in central america for 6 weeks now. On some of my unshot rolls of film have noticed a white powdery substance in the canisters, seems to all be in the 400 speed film. is this stuff still good or ruined?

I don't know but why take the chance. Film is relativly cheap.

Travis,
I have no idea what that could be. But I'd seriously advise against crossing any borders in Central America with any kind of "white powdery stuff" in your belongings... Maybe if you elaborate a bit more I can be of more help. Roberto. |
Funny
white powder. I had the same question. That white powder stuff, at least mine was due to the severe vibration, from a big single, the film roll would vibrate around in its white plastic film container making this white dust. Just wipe carefully and it should be ok. Havent tried sniffing it though |
I've noticed white powder on occasion also. It seems to be the canister vibrating against the film can itself - I suspect the metal is wearing off the plastic - and the powder is the plastic canister. Wipe it off. Why you would have it on only the 400 I have no idea - coincidence?
Wiping it off is a good idea - DON'T want powder inside your camera - could scratch the film. Don't try snorting it... ------------------ Grant Johnson Share the Dream! at: www.HorizonsUnlimited.com |
