what action cameras are waterproof without a separate case?
 

Apart from go pro cameras, Olympus, and Garmin cameras - what other action cameras are waterproof without the need of a separate case? (by waterproof I mean something with a submergence rating)

I thought in 2018 there may be some Chinese variant that offer cameras with waterproof bodies, but all of them I have seen need a separate case for waterproofing.

I've used a Drift 720 since 2014. Can't remember the IP rating, but it has seals round the battery cover and has survived rain, snow, drops etc. An easier shape to mount that the GoPro too.

I'm using a Garmin Virb XE...waterproof without a case for 50 meters.

Thanks for your suggestion but I am just looking for action cameras, and that is more of a point and shoot.

Thanks for your suggestion. The Garmin, Olympus TG Tracker and Go Pro seem to be the only current models that offer this feature. I am surprised not to find any Chinese variants in 2018.

practically every camera brand has a waterproof model. My last one was a panasonic. Beware, I had one, the battery cover was tightly in place, I put it in a lake to take pics underwater and it stopped working and instantly corrupted.

Don't forget the latest generation of smart phones have very advanced cameras on them and some are also waterproof.

My digtal compact camera will have to check the model number is 100% waterproof test in my fishing tanks for 3 hours recording the fish. I will find out when i get home

The one that drowned in the sea just a week after purchase was a Panasonic FT5. I managed to get another older model in Istanbul, and that is still going ok 6 years later, however I can't use it to take photos as the white balance has gone, but video mode works fine, so I take it snorkelling.

I've now changed to a Sony A6000. Not waterproof at all so I have to by hyper vigilant.

If it's only to keep rain / spray out, welcome to my world. :rofl: Most pro spec SLRs have pretty good weatherproofing these days so add a rain cover like this :

and it'll cover most situations. I've spent hours photographing events in the rain using similar covers and they work pretty well if you're careful. Lot cheaper as well.

I have a Garmin Virb and had Drift Ghosts, neither have leaked.
