Yep, a camera is a tough choice for traveling. My Olympus E1 was stolen on a trip last year. Fine camera for sure. I have always carried fine cameras - I love my 50 year old Leica, but now I have simplified a bit. My current camera is a Panasonic FZ-50. there are so many fine digital cameras these days. I personally recommend the Canon products as they still use the optical view finder. This saves some of the battery life and works well in bright sunlight when an LCD display is washed out.
