Land Rover Defender Specialist - South Spain (Tarifa)
 

Ahoy!

Alas, just as I was about to leave Europe and embark on a trans-African overlanding trip, the clutch has gone on my ol' Defender 110 2.4 TDCi. Found myself unable to change gears on the motorway; limping into a nearby forest to wild camp and wrangle with it for a few days, and I can get it running 'okay', but it really needs a thorough looking at by someone with experience with Defenders. May need to replace the master and slave cylinder seals, which is a job beyond my capability in the field, else worse.

Currently near Cádiz, and was shortly heading down towards Tarifa to catch the ferry into Tangier. Might anyone know of a trustworthy mechanic in the area? Must be familiar with Land Rovers and, ideally (though not essential), can speak English. Closest I can find via Google is all the way across in Málaga which is a good 3-4 hour drive, which I'm not confident of making. Any ideas or recommendations?

Given the cost, was also considering YOLOing and getting into Tangier regardless and searching for a workshop in Morocco, assuming it doesn't go out on me again. Perhaps they're more familiar with working on Defenders over there?

Look for any 4x4 specialist - Land Rovers were made and sold here for many years, they're not a rarity in Spain. Use google translate, be the normal amount of wary about being ripped off.
