Turkey, Best Mechanic in Istanbul
Hi,
I've just had my cam replaced on my 2006 KTM 640 Adventure after a catastrophic failure by a very competent mechanic. He mainly works on Jap bikes and BMW's and had never worked on a KTM before but took his time, understood how everything worked and used his seemingly infinite supply of contacts including KTM dealers, friends with KTM bikes and university lectureres to repair my bike before I head further East. It is now in better condition than when I left the UK. He now likes KTM bikes because of their ingenius simplicity. He is located in a huge industrial estate where there is nothing but garages, bodywork shops and tool and parts shops. Whatever you need doing, can be welded, pressed, drilled or ground there! All the people who work in the area are ridiculously friendly and the food from the small shops is cheap. Its much better than the touristy area of Istanbul, so much more genuine. His address is Ataturk Oto Sanayi Sitesi 2. Kisim 9 Sk. No 294 Maslak, Istanbul. Email akkartalersoy@yahoo.com GPS: 41.1152,29.0189 - Google Maps Duncan |
Yes Ersoy was very helpful and had a good space where he let me work on my bike. He was out of town my first week in Istanbul and had some bad experience with two other shops. 0(212)285 93 16 and 0(532)608 80 23

Email contact
Does anyone know a working email address for Ersoy? Alternatively a telephone number? I am confused by the telephone numbers in the preceding post.

Kuzgun Motor's
I would also like to recommend Abdurrahman at Kuzgun Motor's Adventures. Very competent and professional. Also, they are amazingly friendly people who will go out of their way to help you.:thumbup1:

Just was at Ersoys Workshop on last Thursday. Really nice and friendly person. Was really helpufll to me.
The GPS cordinates help a lot. He is curently in the Number 294 on the first floor, just be carfull when going up and down, stay on the outside as it is slippery, especially with a motorbike ;-) |
Great mechanic Ersoy
I stored my R1200GSA with Ersoy Akkartal for 2 months no worries. Great and friendly guy with lots of patient and knowledge. I was ridding from Cape Town and after cross 22 countries, Istambul was the first place (outside of South Africa) that I could do anything (i mean anything!) on my bike. Surely with the assistance of Ersoy! I deeply recommend his services. Cheers!

Thanks İgor.
I hope we meet again. Enjoy your ride. |

Hi y'all,
We just met Ersoy and his mates a few days ago (August 17, 2017) for some minor maintenance tasks on our YBRs (oil and brake fluid change + parts replacements), and these guys are definitely the best you can find. First, the GPS coordinates ( 41.1152,29.0189 on GMaps) really help finding Ersoy's workshop, as it's located in labyrinth-esque "car district" about 20km from Sultanhamet whose streets are literally made of garages and repair shops. When you make it to your destination, though, remember that Ersoy's workshop is located on the first floor, so you have to go up a concrete ramp. Once there, if he can't personally take care of your bike, which was the case for ours, he will redirect you to one of his friends around who will fix about anything in a matter of hours. Add to that the fact that he speaks great English and is both competent and patient and you get the nicest mechanic around. I'm adding a picture of the workshop so you guys can identify it. (If you're reading this, mate, thanks again.) |
Just a quick update about Ersoy. I've emailed him to do some maintenance, but he quit working with bikes!
He took me he has a friend who can help me. This was a few days ago, since then I haven't heard anything from him. Anyone had a good advice for maintenance in Istanbul? I need a new set of tires, Michelin anakee wild. Hopefully I can get them in Istanbul :-) |
