bad experience Chile BMW, good experience this mechanic
took my F650 for 24000 service at Santiago BMW, they tried to squeeze me for everything, plus told me i needed new fuel pump till the warrantee was mentioned, then i only needed an o ring! they also way over estimated for time on jobs and told me parts needed replacing when they did not...... AND thats not as if they weren't already expensive enough.
Happily i was put on to a local mechanic Miguel Angel Narvaez, cell no. 09 2214889 Miguel used to operate from opposite the american embassy and is used to forgien bikers he will now come and pick up your bike with his truck as he's further out from the center. He was great, efficent friendly and helpful, so highly recomended. I'm also told BMW are in Mendoza and Cordoba. HOpe this of assistance to someone mareestu |
Please post this info on the Repair Shops forum.
Thanks, Grant |
Great information. Was planning on using Santiago BMW on my way north. Looks like i will use the mechanic you recommend instead. How is his English ?
Thanks Dave |
Miguel has no english, but was very good with my very very basic spanish, and there is a guy whose name i can't remember working with him who speaks english

Willianson Balfour Motors, BMW in Chile is the worst. Nobody here use his service, only the very rich people. They allways inflate the time neccesary to repair, they allways try to replace complete systems, not rebuilt it.
My brother have a BMW F650 and use the Bimota Service, that is expensive but very good. Another good mechanic is Claudio Nilo, that is very rude but the best mechanic and have low prices. ------------------ Ya verás como quieren en Chile al amigo cuando es forastero (traditional song) Jose Pedro Espinosa Curico, Chile |

Yep, most people think BMW in Santiago to be absolutely useless - at least concerning bikes.
Another useful contact is José Meyer junior. He's got a Beemer repair shop. Unfortunately I can only offer the phone no. of his dad: +56 2 233 87 24 But there you could get the connections. Hans |
