Coyhaique, Chile
Buddy is broken down 6 hours south of Coyhaique. Going to truck it up to town. Suzuki DR650 with probable transmission problem (3rd gear). Anyone have any experience with or know of a shop around here?

What did he end up doing with the DR?
I lost my DR650 3rd gear (no one could fix) in Patigonia in 2016 and had to rent a moto from MotoAventura in Punta Arenas to finish ride. The rental BMW lost it's stator near Coyhaique and they sent me to the Yamaha Dealer. They could not fix so Micheal rented them his personal 660 Tenere so I could continue to Santiago. MotoAventura hauled my DR to Santiago where the Suzuki dealer wanted $3300 USD to repair. NOT!!!! Ended up taking a used motor from the USA with me in 2017 as checked luggage and swapping it into DR in Santiago. DR running good and now for sale in Bogota Feb 5-7,2019 |
He and the bike were trucked to nearest big port, don’t remember where. The cost of parts and repair were too high!p in Chile! Was to be shipped to Vancouver in a 4 week timeframe. Arrived in New York a 3 or 4 months later and was hauled to Vancouver by freight. By the time he got it back the partially disassembled engine, crankshaft, bearings, etc had rusted due to exposure to sea air. He bought a new DR!
