Africa Call, a solo trip around Africa and Europe

Hello mates!

3 weeks ago I've finished my last trip across Africa and Europe, totalling almost 42.000 kms around 43 countries in 77 days (Yes, that was a fast ride...). And as some of you guys helped me in planning the trip on the african borders... I just want to share with you the short video I made about the trip. I hope you enjoy it! :mchappy:

Cheers!! bier

Great Job Isaac,

As my next leg of my RTW is taking me to cross Africa I am anxious to hear more detail about your trip , any ride report / website/ blog

ta-rider 23 Jul 2013 17:27

Why are you going to Africa if you dont want to experience the countrys but just blast through??? The same route took me two years:

I'm married and I have a daughter 5 years old . So I want to travel but I also want to be at home with my family. Sure I had less experiences than you on your 2 years trip. But I had 77 days of experiences... better than nothing, don't you think?

I really do not understand the people that criticize my trip because I was going too fast... Do you mean is better to stay at home? ;)

I've enjoyed every single day of my trip and had as many adventures as I can afford, in money and time.

Don't know you, but every single person that thinks I was going too fast are not married nor have children waiting at home... I can always come back to Africa, but will never again see my little daughter growing up... and I have clear priorities here. ;)

Cheers!

No wory about comments ,any experiences is better than no experience. I did many trips some shorts some very long and they were all great . Africa is a huge continent and now that you had a taste for it I am sure you will come back for more and maybe with your family. Keep posting photos, tips and infos as many traveller would love to do something similar but may not be able to take off for long.

Isaac , I agree totally , life is sometimes short So enjoy it anyway you can. You will never get back the time you are away from your daughter and they grow up fast!
Meaning of life is being happy.

looks amaizing!!!

I’m dreaming on a trip like that....
good for you! great video, loved the sound track.
every year I’m doing 2 weeks or so - but it’s never enough....
always renting never with my own motorcycle :(
in a week I’m getting off to Czech, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania...
I never know when is the time to go off for a 6 month adventure....
but I’m starting to analyze it.
tips would be appreciated.
any way thank you for the inspiration.

Fabulous video. I don't care how long it took you, looks like you had the ride of your life. Awesome effort.

Noel900r 3 Aug 2013 00:06

An amazing trip and video! Thank you for sharing :-)

I had to fight the same questions. After some stuff happen in our life our trip timeframe was getting much smaller.

We had the chose to do a transafrica in 2 months - or to stay at home, doing the trip in some years.

We did the trip, it was a wonderful experience! You did a roundtrip in the same time bier with a bike!

Time is the most valued stuff we have. I`m very jaelous for that people who are able to travel extended over years. I hope i can do it too - in the meantime i get that much i can.

I guess that we will see more and more of that short-time and long distance trips in the future. The people dont want to wait till they are retired - and sometimes there is 2 months the longest available timeframe.

Mind blowing. I'm planning the same trip leaving in about 6 weeks and I wouldn't have believed it possible to circumnavigate Africa and cross Europe twice in that time.

I'm sure that plenty told you that it could not be done. Heroic effort my friend.

steved57 8 Aug 2013 02:46

Way to go Isaac, as you said maybe have been a quick trip for the distance covered but way better than staying at home and iI have three daughters and completely understand

MilesofSmiles 14 Aug 2013 19:24

This year I had big plans for adventure riding. My plans were dashed due to work and home remodeling. The KTM990 sits in my garage collecting dust. The only way I can enjoy the sport for now, is vicariously through people like you who get out and do it.

Thanks for posting that cool video, it keeps me sane......

Hi Isaac,
Can you share a bit of the details of your trip , general cost , average time riding / border crossing, best road for you .....

We will appreciate .

burb 18 Jan 2014 13:06

hi Issac
great video. I am currently living in Mtwara in the south of Tanzania. My contract finishes here in September this year so I am just looking at riding back to the uk. Head West to Angola and then up the West Coast. As I work here as a volunteer money is tight so I may opt for a Chinese Toyo 150cc trail bike. I am sure you will have seen hunderds when you where here. Cheap and chearful but i am sure it will make it back to UK. Spares are aplenty too. Where you going next. I road up to santas grotto on a Transalp a few years ago. We were in Finland for the Britty Rally. Scandanavia is lovely. cheers Paul

Considering 99.99% of us were not born into royalty with money up are areses and unlimited time to kill, I believe your trip was exactly what the doctor ordered. You made it happen in 77 days. A trip I will never be able to take due to obligations. Hell. I'm lucky if I can get 14 days off in a row. Acquiring a good home and a retirement is not an easy task. It takes most of us years to make happen. 2 years around Africa would set my plans back 10 years or more. So, I re-state: Your trip was perfect for you, me and 99% of the rest of the world. Go for it:clap:
