The fastest Egyptian border crossing ever!
There is always amazing things when travelling on a bike. All we know that the Egyptian border is a nightmare because the incredible paperwork, the need of CDP and getting local plates and a Egyptian driver license. I had to cross it few days ago and was ready for a long, long time of waiting.
http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/2883/busyworkers.jpg Well, my last day in Jordan was a little bit different than expected. I wanted to sleep at Wadi Rum and take the night ferry from Aqaba to see the sun rise while still doing custom paperwork. When I arrived to Wadi Rum, the place was fantastic, but the camp site was really dirty. I saw the shitty toilets and thought I d better go to Aqaba and find a hotel with bathroom. I was feeling stomach sick during the last few days. http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/440...he7pillars.jpg Reaching Aqaba, I met a Harley Davidson on the road. It was the first bike in Jordan. They are (or they were) forbidden in the country. He told me he was going to the first Jordan Harley Davidson meeting. Bikes are allowed again in Jordan and they were celebrating the first anniversary of the Amman dealership. I went to the meeting and met HD bikers from all the Middle East. http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/2...nbikerback.jpg http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/8...womanbiker.jpg I met there Omar, Vicepresident of the Amman HOG. Great guy, he introduced me to Ahmed, President of the Cairo Chapter. He took care of me. They will help to cross the border. http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/1390/...allytshirt.jpg At the following morning I joined the Chapter and took the fast ferry among them. When arrived Egypt, they told the custom officials that they wanted me into the country as fast as it was possible because I was a friend. No bullshit and no jokes with the Cairo Chapter guests. http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/4...pterjacket.jpg http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/6...mdvertical.jpg Oh, man, you’d better see by yourself. The Egyptians officials run, smiled and worked out all the paperwork as if the Devil was behind them. http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/3...eavingaqab.jpg I got everything easily and fast. Believe or not, but I crossed the border in one hour and a half by my watch. Much faster than other borders supposed to be much easier to cross. 1:30 minutes, go and out! I m sure it’s been the fastest Egyptian border crossing ever. http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/4395/dscn14870.jpg Thanks to the Cairo Chapter Harley Owners Group, the most fantastic people riding Middle East. http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/1162/dscn1527u.jpg Now, I can ride Egypt with a non legible plates. http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/4...atbigsinai.jpg Feel free to visit my website.
