on the way to laos -what equipment to take?

should i bring helment and protection equipment with me
or will i get it over there?
i plen to rent a bike over there

bring your helmet and gear. I rented from Jim at remote asia in vientienne, good experience. rented in vien, dropped off in luang prabang, good stuff.
