Luxembourg - a quite often underestimated small paradise for riding

Luxembourg is often just seen as a international investment fund banking place, but the small country has far more to offer: picturesque castles, small twisting rivers, narrow gorges and curves gallore - a paradise for motorcycle travellers. Uh, Luxembourg... is that the gas station at the intersection of France, Belgium, and Germany? I think I filled up there once.

My gps logs tell me I've been there quite a few times over the last decade or so but with the schengen arrangement if you miss the welcome sign you can be out the other side of the country without realising you'd ever entered it. |
Lux. has spent much time at the the top of my list, for places I dislike the most, based purely on th fact that visits so far ( many) have involved lots of dog poo, and bad drivers. Just can't love the place so far, maybe the Feng Shui is just not correct?

It is a good place to pass through.
In and out twice in one day in 1997 on our way up to Bad Ems, Cochem, Nurburgring and up into Holland for the WSB at Assen. Superb final two days in Amsterdam before Newcastle ferry. Ahhh the good old days on YZF750. |
Come on - all of your comments sound like you passed through on the highway and have never been to the area, I´ve been talking about. Take a look at the pictures on my homepage and give it a chance! I´m not working for the tourist ministry. It´s really more than cheap gas stations, dog poo, etc.

Lux is similar to most other countries of Europe in the factor that the border regions are the most interesting, often because that is why they developed as borders originally. Riding in and around Luxembourg also overlaps with the border regions of Germany, France and Belgium of course - the Ardennes and Eifel forested regional parks, little Switzerland part of Belgium, etc etc. |
You know when you are there, the road surface improves immediately.
