Oisin Hughes
https://vimeo.com/album/2455850/page...rmat:thumbnail
Above is a link to Vimeo and the 34 videos by Oisin Hughes, entitled "Not dead yet". Oisin himself did, I think, post these videos a number of years ago, and I think the link has been posted on Vimeo by a third party, but I'm not sure. I hope no one concerned minds me posting the link! At around 11 hours of footage, I would argue that these are some of the best travel videos I've seen, and I'm including some professionally made ones! If you've not seen these yet, I would urge you to have a look - you won't be disappointed! And no, I 'm not Oisin's publicist! :innocent: On a personal note, I 'd love these to be commercially available; I love the fact I can log on and watch these whenever, but I'd also like an actual copy to own, as I do with other journeys. I hope you enjoy these as much I have, having seen them all the way through twice now! :D |
I watched these a little while back and I must agree with all of the above, I'm not really a big fan of trip videos but this is different to ones I've watched before, he comes across as a genuine nice guy

I watched these some years ago.
To my mind they are the best videos that have ever been posted on here ,Oisin himself removed them from here ,to me very disappointing as many a time i have spoken about the said videos to friends ,wishing id been able to buy a copy from Oisin ,happy to part with good coin if you are tuning into this Oisin .cheers Noel.:thumbup1:
Thanks for the third party that posted once more .will watch again .:thumbup1::thumbup1: |
I'm surprised to see so little interest here on HUBB. Maybe readers here already know about Oisin Hughes? ?c?
I'd not heard of him ... really enjoyed his commentary, insights on various inner thoughts while traveling. I've not seen all sections yet, but will check them out. I too would be willing to PAY and subscribe to see them. Producing videos Solo like that is A L O T OF WORK! Good job there Oisin! (I worked professionally 20 years doing Documentary (sound) but never solo! It's hard enough even with a crew, fixers and nannies, Solo? a nightmare) Big Respect Oisin! bier |
I read somewhere that Oisin removed the videos from YouTube as he felt no one was watching them. I'm not sure how true this is, but I've really enjoyed them, both times!
|
I loved too.
Many thanks for sharing again. Oisin, make a dvd! |
Love his videos. The books are shite though.

His YouTube channel is off again. It's not long ago that he said that he was writing another book too. He'll be back again soon .

Love his videos, but not sure why he removed them from most of media sites like youtube i thought he is about to publish DVD or something.
:thumbup1::thumbup1: good job he done |
It seems that when entering the publishing/production/distribution world, with a goal to sell books and DVD's, some publishers require the author to scrub UTubes and Ride Reports from the net.
Their Logic: Why buy the book or DVD if it's FREE on line? (U tube, ADV Rider, HUBB, et al) :oops2: I've heard of a couple "commercial" travelers who've had to go back and clean out Vids and reports in order to secure a contract. There is A LOT of travel/ADV product out there now. Most of it crap. (I mention no names here! :innocent:) Oisin is a bit different, Vid production a bit raw, but his improvised ramblings have wit, charm and intelligence, IMHO. A talented professional editor could polish his work into a diamond. |
Great stuff
I've watched 10 of the vids so far and must say thoroughly enjoying it. They are refreshingly not 100% motorcycle based and I like that, there is far more to travel on a motorcycle than the motorcycle . Totally agree it could be made into a great film if edited well. Thanks for the headsup on this one Endurodude :thumbup1:

I read his ride report "What goes around, comes around, Dublin to NY" on ADVRider and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's since been removed (or at least alot of posts/pics) - not sure why.
I'm on Video Episode #12 now - I never did watch all the videos. He actually had a another thread on ADVRider with only the videos as well. Thanks for the link! |
Ousin Hughes trip report videos
I came across his videos a few years ago when he first posted them on HU.
The first person narrative of his experiences along his journey was a refreshing change from the usual ride reports posted on HU and AdvRider. I am currently going through his videos again for a second time. I am planning a similar next year and find His videos invaluable in planning for this kind of motorcycle adventure.
