Montenegro
Montenegro
It's a small country with a beautiful landscape. When I first saw the sea during our trip... I felt the extra dose of energy. :D Montenegro - Narrow, winding roads, sea and mountains... what more to add while riding a motorcycle? :mchappy: http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...a/sam_3881.jpg http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...a/sam_3878.jpg http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...a/sam_3874.jpg http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...a/sam_3875.jpg http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...a/sam_3871.jpg http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...a/sam_3877.jpg |
Day 9
Italy!!
To Bari we arrive by the ferry at 8 am. Italy greeted us with hot sunny day. The first 300km we just struggle with the heat from the sky... and the road we were riding .. lack of shade, full of garbage and prostitutes - we didn't think that south of Italy would look like that?!? :confused1: When we reached the Isernia as if by magic wand views changed a picturesque towns full of narrow corners to the mountainous landscape ... and so to the L'Aquila. We started searching for accommodation in this city, the GPS showed us a number of hotels, guest houses ... but to our surprise the city was under repair, well, we thought at first that they renovate historic buildings. After riding a few more streets we get hit that's not possible that they renew the entire city. Suddenly we noticed that there wasn't even a one window lit. All the banks, restaurants are empty ... something's not right ... then I remembered the press release from two years - an earthquake in L'Aquila ... we found ourselves in the middle of the city-like plan for the film " I Am Legend "... :w00t: http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...y/sam_3889.jpg http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...y/sam_4595.jpg http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g.../sam_3885b.jpg mysterious entrance http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...sam_3886-1.jpg our savior... this lady helped us at 10pm when we couldn't find place to sleep. she opened her home and her heart  http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...y/sam_4584.jpg pls "like" my fanpage: www.facebook.com/RidingAcrossAmerica |
Day 10
La Dolce Vita... :thumbup1:
After starting morning with Italian coffee we moved into the direction of Pisa. On Suzuki VanVan's we wander Umbria, which delighted us with small towns and cozy houses with shutters. When we pulled into the Tuscan .. we were aware that unique moment... but the views from the previous region... it was hard to bet them ;) As usual... we reached Pisa just before dark. And as usual we found accommodation by accident .. but who knows... maybe this places find us :D We stayed in Hostel Pisa which's a warm place where travelers from around the world find their pier in the stages of the journey. After the 460 km in the saddle we had to stretch our legs. We moved to the center which turned out to be divine! Full of young people, beautiful streets... and leaning Tower at night - priceless! http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...y/sam_4606.jpg http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...y/sam_4608.jpg http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...y/sam_4611.jpg http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...y/sam_4613.jpg http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...y/sam_4622.jpg http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...y/sam_4633.jpg http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...y/sam_4648.jpg |
Day 11
Corner's Land
After Pisa time came for Piacenza, where the friends from Intruder Owners Club Italy Club warmly welcome us. As it turned out the city Piacenza was one of the prime, which was founded by the Roman Republic - it had to guard the borders of the empire. After the meeting with a pleasant and wonderful specialties of Italian food we moved in the direction of Nice by the route proposed by our hosts: Piacenza - Bobbio - Genova and then along the coast to Nice... and to be honest so many turns i haven't seen in my life even in the Alps and the Dolomites! There were thousands of them! A Genova itself? This is a jungle-bikers! So many scooters and motorcycles... not seen anywhere else and you won't believe how they ride! That can't be described by words... http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g.../sam_4659b.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-I...0/SAM_4749.JPG https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-T...0/SAM_4760.JPG https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-t...0/SAM_4728.JPG http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...y/sam_4719.jpg http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...y/sam_4723.jpg |

Great ride report. Well done and fine pics, indeed. When in Romania next time, don´t miss Transalpina. Another great road across the mountains and located only about 100 kilometers west of Transfagarasan.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transalpina_(DN67C) Sebe, Rumänien till Transalpina - Google Maps Older than Transfagarasan but newly renovated. Great visit to visit Romania again. All the best. //Jan |
p.s.
thanks Guy's for your warm comments  |
Yesterday Carolina decided to abandon from continuation of Riding Across Europe. Unfortunately... our shared journey was much shorter than I assumed...
I feel sick.. I'm confused.. because she left me just with words: "I ride back home"... with no explanation. If we would ride alone without patronage & partners I wouldn't be angry... but hey! there are people who put their trust in us. I decide to conceal her and we made up a story that she has injurie... sad is that after all she behave childish and start to attack me in the internet :rolleyes2: I start to regret.. that I decide to take with me a total stranger which I've met on motorcycle portal. Also finally I saw that Riding Across Europe was just "my" dream and I take care of everything from the beginning. I was blinded by a dream and I didn't saw what's going on around me. That people instead of support, creat a team... just use me. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-e...0/SAM_5551.JPG Last minutes together...I try to smile... |
The irony of the 'Crockery tomb' shop behind you at this parting moment is not lost!
Try not to be sad- easier said than done- I understand- Alas, many will see your dream and will want to be a part of it but always remember that it is not their dream- they are just along for the ride. Alas you will feel 'used', even perhaps a bit cheated but now you will be able to recognise those who do this... It happens. Many do not have your courage/desire/heart/ability/honesty etc and will always try to 'catch a tow'. Don't judge but do learn to cut loose quickly! Look at what you have been able to achieve for yourself:thumbup1:, be proud and ride on.:scooter: Life just gets better! Remember that to grow a fabulous rose, you do have to surround it with cow sh*t! The rose remains, the sh*t disappears:Beach: |
Mr. Bertrand clearly said everything there is to say about that...but still, that was a very sad and cold move from her part. :frown::angry:
Well, alone is not always bad! I am sure you already learned that :mchappy: I am glad to see that it didnt took away your dream. I have tons of respect for you young lady :punk:  |
