There is a great photo book written by Hans Kemp called Bikes of Burden (Bikes of Burden | Photo Book by Hans Kemp about Motorcycles in Vietnam). I have no affiliation with the author or publishers but having spent a few winters South East Asia hiding out from our Canadian cold months I've seen a lot of similar scenes as the OP but never the big bikes he saw. I thought anything over 125 c.c. was a no-go in Vietnam. I'll have to verify that since it would open the doors to a LOT of adventure travel.
