Scandinavian wilderness on YBR125
 

Driving a bike and being in the nature are two of my favorite things to do, and the best part is that they are perfectly combine-able. At least that what i was hoping for when i went out on my little yamaha.

The plan was to do Finland, Sweden and Norway, living in the tent, make most of the meals on my own, use the natural sources of water and visiting a music festival on Værøy, an island far out on Lofoten.

To do my best to capture the experience, i bought an action camera and summarized 4 weeks of adventure into a 26 minute long film. Hope you will enjoy it! But first, one picture from each country i visited:

I am interested in buying a YBR125 for lightweight touring too! How did you find the bike overall? It looks like a great trip, especially that road at around 6:40!!!

In short, the YBR is a great tourer, especially taking into consideration how economic it is to purchase and drive. It does what it needs to do, on-road and off-road, is reasonably comfortable and can take a lot of luggage for its class. It feels not as refined as the more expensive bikes like MT125 and CBR125, but it is simple and basic. I have made a performance test and it has a very modest output of 8.5hp:

But that's fine as long as you are not in a hurry.

Nice one! Im planning to do something similar but in January when we have LOTs of snow. Do you have the route on a map or gps tracks for me?

Looks like you are well into action sports! I do not use gps so i dont have any trakkz to upload. I just use the smallest roads i can find on the map whenever possible. Go for the old postal road between Kautokeino and Alta if you are in that region.

On a site I am a member, mychinamoto.com there have been several people's reports of buying a YBR 250 and riding out of China to go back 'home' (mostly Europe).

We don't have them in the US, but from all the reports, they seem to be one of the best Chinese made bikes (although a few other joint venture bikes with other brands have come about in the past year or so there are other choices out there--the Suzuki GW250 is another).

I find it interesting that people prefer these over enduros; I have seen some photos of them with knobby tires which kind of answers that question, however! Several tour operators in China use these bikes with knobby tires for certain tours, such as Asiabiketours Asia-Bike-Tours | China | Tibet using them for their Chinese tours

think 125 is a great size for norway, the top speed is what the highest speed limit is, and they have enough power to tackle the big hills.

used a YBR 125 to go from Shanghai to Europe (more info at Ride On Life - RIDE ON) and overall it worked great. awesome touring bike, slow but tough
