On a small motorbike through Latin America

Hi! I bought my first motorbike Honda CGL125 in Tulum, Mexico. After long backpacking trip I decided to travel whole Central America (or even further) on a motorbike. Shortly after I fell in love with it and the freedom it gave me. With a little motorbiking experience (2h) I rode all the way down to Panama City and then took it to Colombia. You can find loads of pictures and stories on my blog, the trip started around this post: Honda | Backpackista Regarding Darien Gap, I'll write about the technical stuff (prices, negotiations and locations) soon, but you can find a general story on my blog already (Darien Gap Drama, Part 2: The Adventure | Backpackista). Today I uploaded a video that shows shows a story about taking the motorbike from Panama to Colombia. Enjoy! |
Darien Gap
Nice video Bacpackista. Keen to hear about the technical details about the crossing and the boat etc. Was there another option to small canoes to get the bike on and off the boat? Where are you now with your travels?
And welcome to HU. Congratulations on your first post. PN |

Regarding your question, I could get the bike on the boat easily in Carti, but docks in Puerto Obaldia weren't working. So you had to unload it on a speedboat, which thankfully took me to Capurgana (I didn't need to show up with the bike in the port). |
