Across Turkey on a bicycle
Hello, I'm in Georgia now and planning to go to Turkey. Can anyone suggest some routes, or just cities/areas to visit? Not too hilly, and paved roads are welcome.
Also It's ok to go some segments by bus. My starting point would be Sarpi (Georgia-Turkey border), and I would like to finish on the west coast, Izmir area, and continue further by ferry to Greece. I can sleep in hotels/guesthouses as well as outside in a tent/hammock. My budget is about 15-25 EUR a day. Any areas to avoid? Thanks for replies. :mchappy: |
Hi Dedeleedo and welcome,
I am not sure there are any routes across Turkey that are not too hilly, it is a mountainous country. You could try the D010 that runs along the Black sea then cut down to Izmir but I am not sure how busy that road gets. Avoid Ankara and Istanbul as particularly the latter is huge and busy, have a good trip the Turks are usually friendly hospitable people. |
