Advice on: UK - Nepal.
I'm planning to go from the UK, across Russia (possibly to UB Mongolia then avoid China in my way round the Himalayan foothills) and down to Nepal. Leaving anytime in 2009.
I would like to get to Nepal by late October, which is a really good time to do some trekking. Can anyone give me advice on weather and timing of the trip. What about the Karokorum Highway and Himalayas? The route seems the easy bit, it's just the seasons and weather I don't know about! Help please! Not sure what to do once I'm there... guess I'll have to ride back home at some point! so probably will take the southern route back via Iran / Turkey. Many thanks |
You can't get around China, that's the problem. Unless you fancy travelling Afghanistan North to South.
To get into Nepal you have to cross Tibet, big $$$$$. If it's open at all. It isn't at the moment. |
I briefly saw a headline on CNN the other night stating that Tibet was going to be reopened to foreigners again- is that the case now?

End 2008 we did travel from holland to nepal, crossing Germany, Hungary, Roemenie, Bulgary, Turkye, Iran, Pakistan, India and final Nepal.
