Advice on what to wear
Advice on what to wear
Hi everyone, I've got a trip coming up to Morocco and the Western Sahara late November and into the middle of December. I just have a question regarding trousers ?? I'm not sure whether it would be best to wear leather trousers or jeans with Gore-Tex pullover over trousers. I've ridden in Spain before in very hot temperatures wearing leather trousers and it wasn't much of a problem, ( although some evenings they stuck to me so fast it was difficult getting them off) http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_12_9.gif I know that the temperatures inland in Morocco will be fairly cool that time of year, but on the coast should be warm. The leathers will offer more protection, but the Gore-Tex over trousers will be more flexible but cooler (I think) any suggestions would be really helpful. Trousers
Hi, if it's any use to you, at this years HU Ripley meeting, I received an interesting answer to that question. It cam from a husband & wife team presenting and I noticed they were wearing BMW Summer trousers. OK they were not douing any serious off-road, but, after a chat, they said they did a great job.
Anybody used them before? Cheers Tom:palm: |
I'd go for motocross pants, some knee pads, and some armoured shorts. Though not waterproof, they are designed to get hot in, and are well comfortable.

You should really have started this in http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...-all-clothing/ .. have a look through there ..
for instance http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...off-road-32114 I'd advise against jeans .. too long to dry after washing .. |
Farking cold in Morocco in December mate, even on the coast. It snows even up till February.

my experience
I did a similar trip in Morocco / Western Sahara over christmas - new year holiday couple of years back.
I was wearing a pair of HG touareg trousers with the GoreTex insert. And it was never too hot other than for a couple of days during midday sun close to the bortder with Mauritania. I also had a pair of skiing inner layer "pants" which were very useful as an additional warmer layer (there was some snow around us but not enough to ski) Generally northern Morocco is cold especially if going through the mountains. Going south on the coastal route past Agadir it starts to get warmer but not too hot. If I had a choise between leathers of Jeans I would got for leathers.. but a set of synthetic bike trousers with a removable thermal lining is a better compromise.. |
