I will start a Trip in April 2014 along the Adriatic coast (Italy, Greece, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia and Austria).
Did anyone made the same trip or maybe a part of it and can recommend some nice spots or routes? Cheers Boomer |

CROATIA: many nice towns on the shore. too many to count. Some may be: Umag, Visnjan, Rovinj, Motovun, Karlobag, Plitvicka Lakes, Krka, Primosten, Dubrovnik (too touristy), Makarska, Cavtat. BOSNIA: Sarajevo, Mostar, Travnik, MONTENEGRO: Kotor Bay ALBANIA: Lake Ohrid, Gjirokaster, Tepelene GREECE: ? AUSTRIA: ? Hope this helps |
That is a start, thanks Samy

Heading the same way in (probably) Late April
Hi, Planning a similar route, South from Trieste to Ioannina passing via;
Rovinj, Croatia Krk Plitvice lakes Zadar Makarska Dubrovnik Ohrid Ioannina, Greece Have visited Rovinj, Zadar and Dubrovnik before using public transport with a backpack and tent back in 1976, probably changed a bit now. Plitvice looks to be a must-see, If you haven't been to Dubrovnik put it on your list and I have had good reports of Lake Ohrid. In Greece, Ioannina to Meteora looks very promising. |
Plitvice Lakes very pretty but can get very busy if you do the walks in the most scenic areas. You can tell the most scenic areas by the number of iPads / tablets in front of peoples faces so they can video what they can't see beacuse of said electronics. We were there in early September and it was still busy. I'd recommend taking your own food into the park.
Zadar very nice, be sure to see / hear the sea organ. |
I added some of my own favourites to the list of Samy.

You can not do anything wrong! Just ... :scooter: The coast road of Croatia is a highlight, definitly! Starting right after Rijeka down to Dubrovnik!!:thumbup1::D Have fun down there!!!! If you go to Bulgaria, don't miss the "Motocamp"! Cheers Alex |
@ all
Thanks for the replies. Sounds quite promising. |
I have changed the route a little bit. On my way back home i will drive through North Italy (Aosta Valley / Gran Paradiso National Park) and through Switzerland. I think this is more interesting than Austria.

How long you plan for?
Hi guys,
I am planning a similar route through Balkans and the Adriatic coast at around June this year. Wondering whether anyone who has done the route before can tell how long is the "minimum recommended time" to visit and enjoy all these mentioned spots on a motorcycle? I know this is a bit of a personal thing, but my plan is to spend 2-3 weeks from North East Italy to Athens. Would this be too many days? Too few? What do you think? Thanks! |
I have planed three months for the whole journey. But i drive from Germany to the south of France and from there along the coast down to Sicily and back to Brintisi and from there with a Ferry to Greece. I think you will have a third of my tour, so i think 2 - 3 weeks will be ok. I am also there in the early June. Maybe we meet us somewhere there.

About Greece when you come in from Albania in the Kakavia Borders, you have to go visit Viko Canyon, the second biggest after the Grand Canyons of U.S.A. Is located about 44km from the borders.

After that you can ride along the cost and visit the village Parga. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...1t/ODBgxB0Uf/Z From there you can continue with the coast road to Preveza a ride a part of the island Lefkada . http://www.touristorama.com/assets/i...si/Lefkada.jpg You can finish your trip in Greece in Patra, and take the ferry to Italy..
