Hi,
I'm from Bucharest and I will start a 15 days tour - Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia - and I need some informations. What are the road conditions ? Do you know interesting road and places on the way ? The trip attached is just informative, the plan is explore more than what is there. Actually we want some seaside for some days and some mountains to ride :). I have to mention that I will travel with my girlfriend on naked Yamaha XJR 1300 bike so a good road is really important :) Thank you in advance, Andrei |
Nice trip :thumbup1:
Regarding Albania: I would ride along the eastern shore of Lake Ohrid and enter AL at the southern tip. The road tho Skoder is fairly good, but from Skoder to MNR is a bit bumpy. The one you have planned to take is the better choice, since the main route to Podgorica is a massive construction site in AL, a real pain for road bikes. Re Montenegro: I would choose to take the road along the southern shore of Lake Skutari after passing the border from AL. Great landscape! Then you could turn towards the coast. Don't miss the town of Kotor. Before getting to Kotor: The mountains east of the bay are really spectacular! Re Croatia: Yep, Dubrovnik is a "must-see". And turning off into Bosnia to Sarajevo is also very interesting. Most of the roads will be in a good condition. Back-roads are a bit bumpy, but unly in rural areas will you find dirt roads. So, enjoy your trip! Hans |
I can add informations about Macedonia,
road from Ohrid to Skopje is really good. Ohrid is a great place to stop. If you have time think as well about visiting lake Prespan. less turistic but really beautiful!! |
Thak you.
I think that will go also in south Albania :) |

Bosnia:
if you like mountain twisty roads with beatiful scenery then take it from Montenegro - Bosnia: Niksic-Trebinje-Stolac-Mostar. (perfect scenery, beautiful nature) Visit Old Bridge in Mostar, see Pocitelj (between Mostar and Capljina), Also Bosanski Petrovac - Jajce -Bugojno- Livno-Arzano-Makarska is very nice to ride. There's plenty of stuff to see in Jajce and also lot of in rest of Bosnia and Hercegovina. Visit : BH Tourism - Tourism Attractions for more info. |
Also,
for enduro motorcycles owners riding through Bosnia: don't miss Lukomir - Sarajevo ! Mountain tarmac and gravel roads, untouched nature. Also, from Lukomir, there's nice view and scenery around Rakitnica canyon. BH Tourism - Lukomir / Umoljani |
