Balkans / Turkey June 2025 - route ideas?

Hello all,

I'm planning a trip from UK to Türkiye in June this year, subject to taking delivery of my CFMOTO 450MT some time soon! No exact plan, but my idea is to blast through N.Europe to the Balkans and start the adventure there. I certainly aim to see much more of Bosnia, Montenegro and Albania, before heading into Türkiye via Bulgaria. I expect to start in the Northern parts of Türkiye, somewhat inspired by Itchy Boot's recent season 8 videos. I have around 1 month for this trip, which probably allows 1 week in the Balkans and 2 weeks in Turkey.

I usually like to have ideas in my head about things to see en route, good roads and scenic regions. Prefer the mountains to the coast and perhaps take the odd 2 night stop in interesting places, otherwise moving on every day.

Any suggestions on route / region / things to see for the Balkans and Türkiye will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I did the attached route last year. A dash down south followed by a couple of weeks at an Airbnb on Kos, then over to Turkey and back through eastern Europe. Total 2 months. Was going to go on to Georgia but weather and forecast was terrible, I'll do it another day.

Have done the Balkans a couple of times. Croatia and Bosnia are fantastic but I prefer inland - coastal roads are beautiful but tourist hell. Want to get to Serbia and Albania this year.

I'd suggest doing some research on interesting places along your route or nearby, and scheduling an extra day to see them. It would be a shame to miss experiencing some of the best and worst places in nature and history for the want of spending an extra day just looking at a bit of tarmac. Sure, it adds to the time out for your trip but when are you likely to have the chance again?

The Balkans are great, Bosnia is really like.
My input would be try and do the Lovcen National Park, the Piva Canyon road, the Tara Canyon then on to the Durmitor before dropping down to Budva
The link to my trip is in the signature block, but the routes are missing due to the Flickr to smug smug migration

Enjoy the trip

I am finishing up Türkiye, after a loop around this beautiful and fantastic country.
