Barcelona to Rome to Hamburg advice
 

I am a Canadian shipping my own GSA to Barcelona in September and am beginning to plan my trip. I am traveling along the coast from Barcelona to Rome and then up trough Tuscany then Venice and then over the alps to Hamburg where I will park my bike for the winter. I am wondering if anyone has done this trip and if so any suggestions, tips or precautions to a first timer? Your feedback is truly appreciated.
