The basic plan, UK to Mongolia and back

The basic plan is starting to take shape, it is just a rough plan at the moment, but its starting to give me an idea and things to look for, will have about 80/90 days to get to Mongolia, as I believe that once I get the Mongolia visa I have 90 days in which I can activate it on the border??
Then its back in to Russia to Lake Baikal, then West heading back towards Europe before heading South into Georgia.
Planning on leaving the UK early May 2015, Kazakhstan by mid June and Mongolia by July, then 30 days to roam Mongolia.
Any info, advice would be great

One comment I'd make is regards your route through Kazakhstan - what you have chosen is not an interesting route, unless you like nothingness. I would either divert further south to see more of the 'real' Kazakhstan in the centre and south or south-east, or stay north in Russia where the roads are likely to be better. The South Urals Region of Russia (roughly between Ufa and Chelyabinsk) is very nice if you get off the M5.

Take a look at my blog. We crossed Russia (east) to Lake Baikal and then south into Mongolia. We headed west through Mongolia and exited yesterday.

We're now in the Altai region of Russia and will be in Kazakhstan in a couple of days.

Maybe the blog posts will give you some ideas of where you do and don't want to travel.
