Border crossings in Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador...

I'm in San Cristobal, Mexico currently and trying to figure out my next move. Not sure if I want to check out Belize and then to Guatemala or straight to Guatemala. It depends a lot on roads and border crossings, how good/bad they are. Any experience or suggestions to share?

Belize is great and the road a fairly good , the tourist tax is bit high but the country have a lot to offer if you like wild life , some superb diving too ( whale shark) , the capital sucks , after that not so easy to cross to Guatemala , if you have time go there you are so close..

Wed are in Tapachula after visiting Belice and Guatemala. This was our second trip to both countries. The Cayes in Belice are beautiful the rest is tired and run down. If you go be sure to visit The crooked tree lodge on the mainland. It is an amazing place with great food. We camped there but they have really nice cabins.
Guatemala has a lot to see. The roads are very similar to Mexico's but with fewer speed bumps. We spent 3 weeks there and could have stayed longer.
