bordercrossing Ethiopia - Eritrea?
 

Hi there,

Within a few month I'll be traveling through Ethiopia and also hopefully through Eritrea. But is it possible to cross this border? If so, what is the best place to cross with a motorbike?

There are rumours that you can only travel overland to Eritrea if you go through Djibouti. Any confirmation on this?

How are you doing? I am a biker in Tanznia and will be heading up through ethiopia in a couple of months as well. Unfortunately, I don't have any firsthand experience with the ethiopia/eritrea border crossing, but I've read quite a bit and the border is definitely officially closed. Good luck with an unofficial crossing if you try it.

Also, whereabouts do you plan on going after eritrea? Me and a friend are looking for people to help share the cost of escorts through Libya and Algeria. Let me know if you're interested.

I have "only" two months. So I can't join you into lybia. If I had the time would have joined you. I'm planning to travel around Ethiopia, Djibouti and Eritrea. You can travel to Eritrea through Djibouti. I'll be there in Jan. and Feb.
