Hi,
I flew from Dhaka (bangladesh) to bangkok (Thailand) for 0,85 cent/kg. Any other place will be much more expensive. Also a good thing: No complicated rules. Just strap the bike on a pallet, wrap it in bubblewrap and shuf it in a flight-crate (They do this for you at the airport) Save about 100 USD for a crate! maarten ------------------ - www.maartensworld.com - - Some photo's - |
Plenty of info on possible routes on the 'Shipping the Bike' page. Kathmandu to Bangkok is a popular route and easier than dealing with customs in India.

Hi guy,s
I had post a reply here I made to the 7day-tour message.. But decided to delete it and just say the folowing: In the end it,s the guy at the bordercrossing who gives you permision to enter or not. And it,s the guy at the roadblock who tells you the permits are OK, or not.. and he,s the one that can inpound your bike and take you to jail. And the travelagent will not pay your fine,s and lawyers. If this sounds kind of over-reacted... read about the guy who overstayed (by exident) his bike-permit and had to pay loads of money just to be able to leave the (non militairy regime) country... It,s somewhere here on the site. Its up to you what you are willing to gamble.
