On the London to Cape Town rally in January we found Egypt had leaded petrol only in places, unleaded in the bigger towns, but unleaded is getting more and more common - why not make the exhaust cat-free (use links of pipes from JETEX, google them, they make exhaust bits for home-made systems). Ideally you need a lower compression ratio, to avoid pinking, or pre-detonation. Presumably you use the boat on the Nile for the bit to Wadi Halfa ....good luck with that, its hell on the high seas. The boat was built in 1938 on The Clyde, British shipbuilding at its best, after sailing for years around the Isle of Skye it then went to the scrap yard in 1964...somehow it found itself diverted to Egypt. Its a martime wonder it still floats.
