It looks to me like you're planning to go down I5 between SF and LA. I found that road to be quite a straight boring ride and would suggest using the Pacific Coast Highway (Route 1) instead which is a much more interesting and scenic ride (check out the PCH section of my blog here: On The Pch | Route 66 on a Harley
