Croatia/Slovenia places to see
Hi,
I'm planning a week-long trip to Croatia/Slovenia in September. Can anyone recommend where to go on this short trip. Thanks Artur |
Not sure about Croatia but in Slovenia you should check out Lake Bled, Predjama Castle and Ptuj.
Really nice roads if you stay off the motorways as well. :thumbup1: |
In the North-West of the country is the Triglav National Park. Take the Vrsiska Cesta (Road 206) from Kranjska Gora to Bovec, it's a fantastic scenic road which curves around Mount Triglav. I agree totally with the post that recommends Lake Bled, push on a little further to Lake Bohinj as well.

Set a day aside to explore the Plitvice Lakes in Croatia - fantastic place. There is also a campsite nearby which does 'bungalows' if you don't do tents.

We stayed at this place last year Apartmaji Kaja, Julijske Alpe - Sloveniaholidays.com
close to a great resturaunt and bar:thumbup1: Dave |
Another vote for Triglav National Park just getting there is a blast! Also Slap Savica falls was a nice ride, then a nice hike.
The Museum of Apiculture in Radovljica was also fascinating. |
Hi,
As above and in Croatia; So many places but Trogir - Rovinj - Primosten - Omis - Opatija the coastline is stunning. Also the Paklenica National park. Cheers Mark |
Thanks for all the tips.
The plan is slowly starting to take shape :)

head south
Hi Artur,
Just got back yesterday from both Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Albania. Slovenia: all the north west side running down from the Dolomites South tirol, italy. Triglav Nationalpark and Bled. Sidetrack: Montenegro is amazing, especially the mountainous east, green... riders dream. Recommended and not far from the Dubrovnik (HR) cheap, just take the green insurance card. Albania is my favorite country from the lot, road conditions are pretty rough but worth it if you like adventure and a bit of gravel.Lovely people and not so many tourists. Blue line ferrys from italy, cheap and good. (sorry for the sidetrack) Have fun! |
The Croatia coast is beautifull. If you have time take the road on the coast and go down until Dubrovnik, the landscape is beautifull, and the see too.

What time of the year?
Hello,
I am loking for possibilities fo such a trip as well. My concern is the wheater. How would be the wheater towarsd the end of October? Would there be lot of rain and possibility of snow? Regards |
In october weather in Slovenia is not the best anymore, it depends where in slovenia as well (seaside climate is warmer and nicer then on north).
but I would still strongly recommend you to drive all the way down the river Soča (from start to the Italy border). amazing!!!! |
in croatia you should check weather prior to your trip, i recommend starting from dubrovnik up the coast, not highway to rovinja, around rovinj is istra pure hedonism , and rijeka with colloseum and million of nice islands around , you cannot go wrong there, but at september october they have a plenty of extremely high winds, so watch for that
